    Nikon Z* mirrorless

Interesting that the V1 should not support HSS when off-camera... I'm not directly concerned as I use studio strobes (AD100 Pro, AD200 Pro II, AD600 Pro II) and they all support HSS fine, but still, it is quite surprising for this category of cobra flash.

Advice on carrying bag for Godox lights, stands, accessories

Don't think I haven't tried! However, I cannot get her to understand that she is my assistant. For some reason, she persists in claiming that I am hers, and in the end, I often am the one left holding the bag(s). :headbang:

Advice on carrying bag for Godox lights, stands, accessories

I should have updated this topic some time ago, as I did end up buying the Avenger 1301B. Of course, it is custom-designed to carry three C-stands, therefore not all features will be used and some adaptation needs to take place when you want the case to carry other stuff, such as light stands...

    The culture of photography

Well, then the title of the topic and the question the OP actually asks are different, because that question was: What is the point of photography? Why the flimmock do we bother? ... and that's exactly what my answer was about. ;)

    The culture of photography

We have for quite a while now mastered the three dimensions in which we exist. We can move up, down, left and right pretty much as we want. We are no more interdicted by oceans or mountains, and we can even fly if we so choose. The only dimension we have not mastered, over which we have...

    Monitors for photo editing

If you do a little research, you will find that Eizo is one of the most (if not the most) respected brands of monitors, used by many professionals, including those for whom money is not object. I have had an Eizo for a few years, its color accuracy and uniformity are superb, and it has a...

    Any norms for bag layout?

No norm, of course! Anything that makes sense. Personally, and for a few years now, I have been using Peak Design bags of various sizes, depending on the sort of kit I need to take with me. Initially, their Everyday backpacks appealed because they could be accessed from the side, without having...

    Beginner Aperture question

You are right of course. I was just trying not to overcomplicate things...

    Monitor Hood yes or no?

Of course it helps. Why would anyone bother to manufacture and supply it if it hindered?

    Beginner Aperture question

First of all, maybe a word of clarification about those confusing aperture numbers. The fact that 4 is a larger aperture than, say, 16, is counter-intuitive. The reason why that is is because aperture values are a fraction of the focal length of the lens. If one wanted to express it in full, an...

    Advice for Young People

Of course it is, yet Ben chooses to submit it to us, and therefore either expects some sort of feedback beyond sheer mute admiration, or at least is prepared to welcome it. Anyway, that’s my take on it. And in fact, I tend to agree with Bazza above. It seems odd to ask that question to people...

    Studio Lights,

I do not think it would be worth the time and effort. I’ve been there before. Let’s just say that you must be right and so everyone will walk away happy, shall we?

Beginner What would beginners want covered in a photography course?

“What makes a good photograph” is a very touchy topic, especially if you develop it around personal photos you ask attendees to submit. The way the session goes may put off some people from continuing, out of disappointment/bad feelings right from the start. I do not see the added value of such...

    Studio Lights,

Probably is, generally speaking. General speak is hardly relevant here, however, and I do give the authors enough credit to believe that they would not have accepted to include that word in the title if they thought it was just marketing hype —assuming that the idea to include it wasn't theirs...
