In some tutorials I watched the general advise was to always make sure the skin tones are correctly balanced, but even to get the skin WB and tint correct is not that easy. Or maybe it's just me?

IS doesn't seem to affect the blurriness much it seems. Do you think it might be optics problem?

No, no filters were used, just the lens hood. Also I'm shooting on Canon 60D so I'd imagine on a full-frame I'd be getting even more distortion.

In the video I focused only once, then just hit record. I'll upload some stills with and without IS. In most images I see something like on the first image - distortion/smudging near edges

On all images IS is set to Mode 1. The video is shot with IS set to Mode 1 as well
