Graduated nd soft filter advice please

I have bought circular ND graduated filters, that are adjustable after screwing on the lens, same as polarised

Do DSLR's still have a place

I wasn't criticising technology, I am all for the latest computers etc., more, I suppose, crying that I don't want it in the photography I do, you are correct, landscapes, architecture, my wife's flowers etc. I was just wondering where do I go for a new camera, should I want one. hopefully the...

Do DSLR's still have a place

Apparently I am not unique. I do think manufacturers are ignoring the likes of me. I fail to see how all the new technology is going to improve my photographs. I take photos for me, I don't care if no one else sees them. I like optical viewfinders, have an absolute hate of composing with the...

    Suggest me a Lightroom alternative

A possible free program you could try, as an alternative to Lightroom, is DigiKam. Although this is a big program, so may still run slowly aswell. Just a thought, maybe stating the obvious, have tried running any progams to clean the computer?

Anyone else favouring phone over camera?

Anybody but me thinking of binning their smartphone? They are nothing but a compromise. Can't see the screen in sunlight. Keypad too small for my fingers. A tablet is better for social media. A camera for photographs. A pc for editing internet and documents etc. I have a 32 inch monitor why look...

    How Did This Happen?

Yes there is a highlight reconstruction tick box, that is not ticked by default, in fact, it switches off when the program is closed. The website I was pointed to above explains it.

    How Did This Happen?

Thank you, a lot of information there. It looks to be inherent in RawTherapee, and as others have foung the thumbnail is fine.

    How Did This Happen?

Being at a loose end, one very windy day I got mt camera with an ND filter. This image I nearly deleted, it was flat, no contrast and over-exposed I think the camera had bit of a fit! Then I decided to have a play with it, nothing to lose. On opening the raw file in Gimp, which uses RawTherapee...

Moving Lr/Ps and photos to another drive

You don't say if you are using a laptop or a tower pc or mac. But with a tower an internal slave drive would work. Enabling the software on the c drive and the pictures on a d drive. No slowing down of the software

Cape Verde - any good photos there?

I don't get the negative reports. I went there and loved it. As regards photography, it depends what you want from your pictures, I was quite happy with mine. Just don't expect any more than a peaceful relaxing holiday. The inhabitants are the friendliest you could wish for

Lightroom alternative for both Windows and Mac?

To be fair, I only used Lightroom because it came in the package. I could have done most of what I used it for with Adobe Bridge, except printing

Lightroom alternative for both Windows and Mac?

RawTherapee, for me, is a replacement for camera raw, I rarely use it standalone, it is a plug in to open raw files in Gimp. I use my camera set to pef, the Pentax raw file. I use digiKam to import, and rename those files, from the sd card to the pc. I use digiKam to sift through the files to...

Lightroom alternative for both Windows and Mac?

I have just retired and cancelled all software subscriptions, and am using open-source or free for personal use. I was using Photoshop, Camera raw, Lightroom and Bridge. I have tried various pieces of software, but have settled on Gimp, RawTherapee and digiKam. Although I have had to make very...
