The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Still using mine now on the X-T5, Had it since my X-T2. Used in plenty of bad weather and still going strong. Isnt the old version meant to be optically identical to the new one as well? Was thinking of upgrading soon but given its low trade in value and still good optics I decided theres no point.

    Large(ish) Printing Options UK

I just got a couple of big prints done from Whitewall. They were very expensive but the detail and resolution is really impressive. Really pleased with them. If I was doing big prints to display in the house from a camera you paid a lot of money to get good resolution etc, id spend the extra and...

My version is ok and has served me well, but I definitely notice its not that sharp, especially on my X-T5. I must have had it 10 years now though, since my X-T2 days. I heard there was quite a bit of variance in production quality between batches back then. Theres also a newer autofocus Samyang...

Anyone got the Sigma 10-18 F2.8? How does it compare to your Fuji 10-24? How do you change aperature on a lens without an aperature ring, do you have to manually assign a dial? Silly question, but all my lenses are native Fuji with an aperature ring. I do a bit of astro photography, so thinking...

Second vote for Pal2Tech. Hes done a video on about everything you could ever think of regarding fuji settings. Some good info on setting up the autofocus.

    Beginner Urban photography - beginner

Go on days with good light (i.e sunny) and look for bits of contrast between light and shadow. Some good compositions between light and shadow can make good photos out of normally really boring places. Likewise a boring place in boring light will stay boring. Its all perspective though, some...

Anyone know if you make a film sim with grain or clarity adjustments, whether this is applied to the RAW file? I know the colour grading, white balance etc don't apply to the raw or can easily be edited, so I would assume grain wouldnt either.

Astrophotography - focus and other advice

Whether wide angle is better or not only depends upon what type of aspect you want i.e. if you want to get a lot of foreground or sky. If youre doing milky way then wide angle is usually needed to fit plenty of sky in the frame with a bit of forgeround as well. The only thing that matters in...

Astrophotography - focus and other advice

I use the Samyang 12mm F2 for astro. Its manual focus only. If you simply turn the focus ring all the way to the end where it says Infinity, it goes past it and becomes blurry. I did a test during daylight, to get the actual infinity focus point then put a small tipex mark on the correct point...

Does anyone ever suffer with their X-T5 not turning on and off properly? Especially if turned on and off in quick succession. Its like the camera doesn't register the dial is being turned. It eventually catches up or might need the battery taking out to reset. Its got the latest firmware on.

I read Thomas Fitzgerald blog about processing the latest Fuji raw files. I never actually knew there was a new button in lightroom called Raw Detail (not enhance detail) which changes the way lightroom renders the Raw File and it better for X-Trans files. My X-T5 files are noticeably better...

Always thought Nigel Dansons house in the peak district countryside looked gorgeous in the brief clips hes shown of it. I suspect youre right that youtube cant be his main income.

I wonder what the income of the bigger youtube creators is? Thomas Heaton is constantly getting new high end gear and cameras. Hes just bought another van to replace his last one that he only had 4 or 5 years and is now doing conversion videos. As well as that van type which new must be £60k...

    Memory cards

For the price of them, id just buy two of the fastest SD cards you can get. Think I paid about £40 for two 128gb Scandisk extreme pros for my Fuji XT-5. For Saving a tenner or so I don't see why you would put slower or small capacity cards in, especially if your camera cost £1000s to start with...

I used to love watching Alyn Wallace. A genuine talent and not over produced videos. Real shame he passed away so young. I'm also a Fuji XT-5 shooter so I also watch Andy Mumfords videos, his work is amazing however I find it hard to relate to him as all his videos are from the far corners of...
