My first canon 300d was less than 100 although obviously that Is a used priced. Got some great shots and was more than capable of teaching the basics.

Well, I took the plunge and ordered the 18-135 which arrived yesterday!:D Have had a very quick play with it at work today, snapped these on my colleagues window-sill And: Am very pleased so far, looks like it will suit my needs nicely.:)

I would be surprised if you would notice much difference now to when you last visited 5 years ago, the media just seems determined to make everyone here feel miserable about the UK. It has its faults like anywhere but it's my home and I love it here.

The ad says there are 16 channels, are there any switches on the remote or receiver to set the channel? I don't think you need to do anything to the 40D to get it to work with a remote connected.

The 50mm 1.8 is a cheap way of getting a fast lens with pretty decent image quality. I think they are great for portrait and shallow depth of field shots but not ideal as a wedding guest as you would have to spend alot of time moving about with this lens.

I thought the op was looking for a longer lens than the 18-55 kit lens? The 50 1.8 isn't gonna be much help surely?

Can i ask why? I recently stopped using ai focus as i had a suspicion it was behind some of my pictures being oof.

I don't understand what the big deal is with shooting manual? Surely it gives you no more control than shooting av or tv and applying exposure compensation? Ok, so admittedly my experience is very limited, but every time i have ventured into manual it feels like Im just setting something extra...
