I have the 100-400L and I'm considering the 7D as a backup body.
As a concert shooter, I'm sometimes forced to shoot from the soundboard and the 100-400 has been brilliant for that.
What is the 7d like at high ISO's? That is a primary consideration for me.
The 100-400 with IS on has really...
My 2 year old 1d Mk3 has just let me down badly.
The autofocus thinks it has locked on and lets me take the shot, but is wildly out of focus, and I'm talking blurred.
This is not the well documented AF Servo problems this model was blighted with from launch (mine is a 'yellow dot' issued after...
I use the 28" Wescott Apollo softbox. Folds away like a brolly and very light.
It produces beautiful, controlled light.
The downsize is they are not cheap, so if you still want to go down the brolly route, I'd go for the dual shoot-thru/reflective version with the detachable...
Got my pre-order from Amazon a day early.
I was previously running 64 bit Vista and appearance wise, Win 7 isn't earth shatteringly different.
It does seem to start up quicker though 1st impressions are I like it.
I ran the on-line compatibility check before I ordered it which reported no...

I posted the 'video' for it's novelty factor and agree there are more efficient ways...
I think 'choppy' was their intention and I'm sure they had much superior equipment at their disposal...hell, a 5d could produce 'superior' results, but I think they achieved what they set out to achieve.
Why climb a mountain when you can just get dropped off at the top from a helicopter...

Who needs a 5d?
Thanks to David Hobby @strobist for the heads up!
I would add that it is best to use nimh rechargeable batteries, as high a power as you can afford.
They are much more efficient for flash, give you a greater number of flashes per charge and shorten the flashes' recycle time.
Another vote here for the 430 EX, only slightly out of your...
