Thanks, I'm aware but didn't know the details of that rule and didn't want to 'manipulate' the system. I prefer to sell to TP members if possible which is why I posted this first. Hopefully my posts here will help and maybe I'll post my equipment in a single thread when I do list it.

How about buying a cheap dictaphone, and at each wicket recording a time check and quick description of what happened. All without taking your eyes off the action. Hang it round your neck so you can drop it quickly if necessary. This all assumes you're sitting on your own to avoid looking...

The 200-400 was without the converter - can't imagine it being much use with.

I have a 400 2.8 with 1.4x TC, and recently hired a 200-400 for a weekend of indoor athletics to see how it was. That was a big mistake! It seems if the light is not perfect (ie outdoor sun) the 200-400 is going to be frustrating, although the new version is apparently better. The high ISO...

Interesting post. For me I've always liked cup lifting / final celebrations / champagne spraying (at lower level competition). Getting in close with flash and capturing the joy.

I should add I don't know about Canons, but not all Nikons can be configured the way I described - only the higher end bodies. So possibly with anything other than a pro body BBF is a better option.
