Thanks everyone for the great advice. All the exif data is attached to my shots, im fairly close for most of the bird shots. I will continue shooting them and test different appertures. I tend to shoot in apperture mode, maybe time to learn manual. I appreciate all the help. John

    Focusing Question

Im still getting to grips with the Canon 7d and Tamron 70-300 VC lens. I know I can set the canon to pick its own focus points from a choice of 19, but that often results in the camera focusing on a blade of grass for example. Im shooting anywhere from 5ft to 100ft plus. Sometimes you have a...

    Focusing Question

Hi Guys, Im looking for advice when trying to capture more than one subject in focus. I have recently been taking pictures of birds, and inspite of trying higher f numbers to increase the depth of field, can still only rarely get the second subject in focus. Can anyone please advise me how...

Guy next to me yesterday was using a Nikon with a 70-300 lens, no hood attached. He had no problems at all.

Would you give advice to a stranger?

Nothing funny in that. My father suffers a tremor now, which makes photography almost impossible for him, unless he uses somehing to rest the camera on. So its mono pods, tripods, walls, gates, fences and almost any other static object for him. Its the only way now, that he can enjoy his hobby.

Hi Heather, you can take food, but not alcohol into a football stadium. The stuff they were making people throw out was in bags or packaging not associated with the games sponsor.. Therefore Greggs, M&S etc, would nuot be allowed through. No doubt a sarnie in clingfilm from home would be fine...

LONDON 2012 - CAMERAS, BAGS, RESTRICTIONS, ETC - PLEASE POST HERE

Heather, they were making people throw out Greggs pasties, sarnies, rice salads, wraps.. just about everything. There were Koreans in front of me, made to destroy their entire days food, consisting of salads, rice etc. And a fella from gateshead who had bought stuff from Greggs likewise. I...

LONDON 2012 - CAMERAS, BAGS, RESTRICTIONS, ETC - PLEASE POST HERE

I guess your right. You cant smoke anywhere within a football stadium. Inside or pitchside. Watching the amount of food getting destroyed at Newcastle yesterday as it is "Banned" was sickening. Person after person was told eat it here or bin it. Prices inside were mad, £1.50 for a bag of...

LONDON 2012 - CAMERAS, BAGS, RESTRICTIONS, ETC - PLEASE POST HERE

Inkiboo, I am well aware of what is and is not permitted at sporting events. I did pass the FA safety stewards course a few years ago and as such have worked at large events. As I stated I had no intention of trying to get in with my 70-300 or 7d, as I was sure that the camera would not be...

LONDON 2012 - CAMERAS, BAGS, RESTRICTIONS, ETC - PLEASE POST HERE

I didnt mean I was going to. I mean I will be able to find out exactly what is permitted at the venues. Im just a hobby snapper. I dont make money from photography, I work for my living unfortunetly :) TBH, the terms and conditions that the 2012 guys sent out to ticket holders are very vague...

LONDON 2012 - CAMERAS, BAGS, RESTRICTIONS, ETC - PLEASE POST HERE

I have tickets for all the football in Newcastle. I didnt think they would allow my Canon 7d and 70-300mm lens. I therefore took the precaution of buying a small Olympus SZ-14. My objectives are to capture the surrounding area and the atmosphere in the stadium. Matches one and two are this...
