Neopan 400 and Provia 400 bite the dust...

I really like Neopan 400! I'll be sad to see it go, but at the same time I like tri-x equally as much so I won't feel as if I'm missing out as such. It's a shame to see a couple of rolls dissapear from shops, but hopefully it'll make the market for Kodak and Ilford films that much better...

    Costs ever rising...

Fuji Pro 400 was about £6.50 a roll a few months ago, now most places are selling it nearer the £10 mark! It's a film I really like, but I can't justify the cost over Portra which is still around the £6 mark.

Images, value and their worth... Who is to blame?

I've had various photos of mine used, for free and paid. And you're right it does feel good. However, people often feel as if they've achieved something by being published. The publisher often doesn't want work because it's good, but more so because it's cheap and easy, as previously stated...

Spot on. It's a false sence of achievement for sure.

Cracked it with OOD Velvia 50

Thanks Rob. Appreciate it! Whilst the weather's like this I'm going to give some sunset / sunrise shots a burst. not usually my thing as such, but I've never used slide film and feel the need to play with it :)

Cracked it with OOD Velvia 50

Some awesome results! Slightly off topic here, but any help would be greatly appreciated! I've got a few rolls of Sensia, Velvia and Provia. All expired between 2008 and 2012. Would anyone have any 'best' ways to shoot in terms of exposure metering? It's not the type of film to burn through...

Images, value and their worth... Who is to blame?

I think the point Paul was getting at is that the amateur is naive in the sense that they're willing to give it away for free because it pre-exists. Naive in the sense that, as others have mentioned, free exposure is good exposure. Naive in the sense also that they believe their image to be...

    Vivian Maier Doc on BBC

I know. My point being that she was unknowingly succesful. Some people take some things so literally. Each to their own...

    Body meets Lens...Superb

I meant more in terms of that old style design of SLR. I would have said manual SLR, but a lot of them have various auto modes (none of which I'm particularly opposed to I should add) But always interesting to know. I was browsing AE-1's on ebay the other day, the non-program ones...

    Body meets Lens...Superb

That looks like a nice little combo! I keep getting tempted by an old metal body but can't decide! Olympus OM's, Nikon F series, Canon A series, and much more!

    Lacking ideas!

Taking photo's of various things that you enjoy will help you improve. However don't feel pressured to shoot anything for the sake of shooting, you won't enjoy it. Also don't think that just because you've got the camera in your hand, you'll come home with amazing pictures, or even...

    Lacking ideas!

I think it depends on what you enjoy shooting / doing. I've been rollerblading for years now, so I take photo's of that. I'm not into landscapes so I don't shoot them. My point is; don't force yourself to shoot things you're not particularly interested in, just for the sake of shooting them...
