    Lighting for Skype!

Thanks for the advice :-) Maybe it's a tad silly but I haven't got a light on my desk currently. I have some video LED lights in my camera bag, so I'll have a play with positioning these as uplights and then replace with something more desk 'aesthetically' pleasing

    Lighting for Skype!

Hi all, I'm looking for a lightweight lighting system for my home office to provide cleaner videos for video conferencing. I'm running a Logitech c920 webcam and have a Plantronics headset that provides more then adequate sound. The office is poorly lit from behind the desk, so I'm looking to...

    6D or 5D Mark II

Totally recommend the 6d over the 5d2; both great cameras, but the newer tech in the 6d will be instantly noticable

    Sony RX100

I think I'll grab a newer RX100 besides the 5D3 for a few months and then decide the fate of the DSLR. This is now the 3rd holiday I've been on and have shot photos on my Galaxy S6 - which seems madness (but luggage restrictions and portability are winning).

    Sony RX100

Who's switched from a 5d3 across to a RX100 mkiv? I went from a 40d to an RX100 mki and saw very few drawbacks (for 95% of my shots) - the portability for me meant I took more and better photos

Still new to video - first comedy gig!

Will do, I threw this onto my friends MBP and it seems to process the sound and video correctly (ran out of disk space, so will try again tomorrow). Hopefully I will get this edited by COP tomorrow

Reviewing/Introducing AV equipment at a trade show!

Hi all, I'm over in Amsterdam with my friend, who's looking to create content for his business. I'm looking to put together 10 short reviews/introductions to new home AV devices on show. He doesn't have much of an idea into what would work for him; so I've suggested creating 10x 30 second...

Still new to video - first comedy gig!

So I shot the video and it went better then planned :-) Definitely learnt a lot for future shooting! First issue I'm having is editing the footage - I'm using an ultrabook (i5, 8gb RAM, 1gb graphics) but it just can't hand Premiere CS6. I'll try a friends tricked out Macbook Pro (which I've...

Still new to video - first comedy gig!

This will be an interesting experiment! So I'm taking along a friend who's techie but knows nothing about cameras or video (still a lot more use then doing this on my own). What you recommend in terms of right tripod/lens/body on each setup? My hardware will be as follows: - 5d3 & 70d - 70-200...

Still new to video - first comedy gig!

Excellent advice thanks :-) I'll have to plan out a 30 minute staggered switchover! I'll make sure there's at least one camera recording at once. My friend really doesn't care about quality or filming in general so I'll do my best regardless

Still new to video - first comedy gig!

Thanks for the advice! What sort of life should I get out of the batteries at 1080p? I can setup a couple of smart phones with power and make sure batteries are switched when others are on

Still new to video - first comedy gig!

Hi all, I've been asked to record a friends stand up comedy gig next week and I wanted a little above! I've only previously shot one video interview (which went well) but I have limited time to setup for this one. Equipment is fine, I plan to shoot with 2 DSLRs; 5d3 with a Tamron 24-70...

Standard zoom lens for motorsport on 7D body

Personally I loved the IQ of the 17-50 non VC Tamron, but the autofocus is terribly slow. I'd spend the extra and for the Canon 17-55 f2.8 if you're sticking with the 7D. The 24-70L is fabulous, but you'll lose the wide angle ability and regret it

    Advice needed please....

I'd just recommend posting up your photos (whether you're happy with them or not) to the forum and getting feedback. There's so really knowledgeable guys and girls on the forum. Besides that practice makes perfect

    Light painting or rig shots.

Totally agree, if you enjoy it and are new to it then don't charge. People will come to you if you take good pictures ;-)
