To be honest, I don't know, I was talking to a friend of mine the other day, and he suggested I should get one with ETTL, but I'm not sure what the advantages of that are. Apparently it lets the flash and the camera communicate light levels?

I mainly do car photography, but also a bit of portrait and product photography, if that helps?

I currently don't have a flash (other than the built in flash on the camera), and would rather like one. So, assuming the budget is around £100, and I'm not fussed about whether its new or second hand or not, what would you recommend to go along with a Canon 40D?

What range are the 66mm square filters? Most adapters seem to be for the P range. Edit: Ahh, would seem to be A series http://www.cokin.co.uk/pages/cokinA.htm

My Dad has lent me some Cokin filters, which seem to be about 66mmx66mm. Are these a standard size? My lenses have either 52mm, 67,77 and 82mm filter sizes, I'm guessing they will only work on the 52mm lens, or will they also just about fit on the 67?

Looking at my shots, I inadvertently put it on ISO 400 at some point, which would account for 1/2500 speeds, the fastest shutter speed at ISO 100 was 1/1000. So, if I'm right (and I'm usually not) at 1/1000 I'd want to drop the light by 8 times, so a 3 stop would be perfect, right? (or wrong!)

Perfect, so Possibly I need an ND4 and an ND8, or ND16? I might try one of the cheapo ebay jobbies to play about with, as I'm not too concerned with flare as I always have the hood on the lens, and get a proper 4 and 8 anyway.

That seems to be focussed more on 9/10 stop filters, which I think may well be overkill (a 30 second exposure would generally result in the car being half way round the lap by the time its over!). Is there any online calculator to figure out exposure from shutter speeds/aperture/ISO?

Well, I just managed to find 4 used 511's (2 A's, 2 not) for £28 delivered on eBay, so I ordered them.

Trying to get genuine, so comparing genuine for genuine, which is best?

I could do with another battery for my 40D, I know it comes with a BP-511A, but apparently it will also take a BP-512 or a BP-514. Which is best? I'm guessing the 511A, but I could be wrong!

Should be able to get a 40D body for about £200 second hand, do you have any lenses?
