Been to Cadwell Park today to watch the Time Attack series, I took around 400 pics most of which were panning shots of the cars on circuit. The used ones ( F1.8 ) fetch such strong money that I didn't think it was worth the risk for a saving of £20 so I bought a new one. Only drawback is, on the crop sensor camera, you sometime can't get far enough away to use it indoors. Apart from that, I love mine, it's so sharp.

Just to update an old thread, I ended up with a used 450D and I love it. I've used it loads more than I thought I would and photography is now almost a hobby. I've already bought the Canon 50mm F1.8 lens, and I'm now looking to upgrade the kit 18-55mm lens.

I don't really want to push the budget until I find out if I can get on with a DSLR. If I find I'm using it a lot and getting some good results then I'll splash out on an xxD body. Do the 400D's hold their value becaue they are a better camera than the newer 1100D?

I was thinking of spending a couple of hundred on a used Canon 400D as a first DSLR, then I saw that for not much more I can get a new 1100D. So, which would you recommend?
