    Canon 50d or 5d mk 2

I've gone from a 500d to a 5d and the images the 5d can produce are far better. They are sharp, smooth, just wonderfully velvety images and are great for portraits. And at used prices it is an utter bargain.

    canon 5D MK1

Just bought one in the last month and used it for a wedding. Excellent camera to use and delivers wonderful shots. Took a while to clear all the dust off the sensor first though! Compared to my 500d the screen is a little dated, but it still shows enough detail to confirm focus in the right...

    Basic help required - weddings

Assuming the pro is actually any good, you may be better off taking less photos and watching/asking more questions (not to the point of distraction though, obviously). There will be periods between events (the meal for example) where you and the pro can compare notes, so make a mental note of...

Wedding photographer shot after he asked bride and groom to pose with guns

We should just let natural selection deal with stupidity though, surely? Protecting the stupid is only going to lead to bad things as a species - survival of the thickest anyone?

    We Need To Get Real

I'm not entirely sure what this thread is about to be honest... the title implies that the OP would like a communist society where everybody shoots with the same kit, all things being equal. Why do 'we' need to get real? I'm real enough, the money I earn is real, and so is the kit I buy with it...

    We Need To Get Real

Well, that's what you've written. No amount of artistic license is going to get you a decent shot if the kit can't cope. One blurry 'atmospheric' shot, is all very well and good, but a whole memory card full isn't going to impress anyone. My reading is fine. Your ability to express yourself...

    CUSTOMERS ARE RARELY RIGHT!!!

[Moss from the IT Crowd] He wants a petal shaped hood for his 100-400L! That's outrageous![/Moss from the IT Crowd] Because that's how it sounds... fair enough if he was calling up to ask for a brillo pad to clean his sensor with, but for the sake of a few notches cut from a hood, It's hardly...

    We Need To Get Real

So your argument is that expensive kit is useless because there might be one brain-dead idiot who can't operate a simple point and click? Genius... Weighing up a hypothetical situation versus real life experience, I'm afraid it sounds like you're arguing for arguments sake, that or you're...

Despite not actually having much reach, it has become known as the 'perving lens' by my work colleagues...

    Basic help required - weddings

The 70-200 f2.8 isn't too big a lens to carry around if you aren't built like a peperami. I've been second shooter a handful of times now, and anything other than full frame for decent high iso and wide aperture lenses and you lose the ability to shoot a lot quicker than you think. Once inside...
