    "Can I get.....?"

How about "bored of ..."? One of my pet hates!

    X-Ray Consent

It's generally accepted that taking a long-distance flight gives you more ionising radiation than you'd normally achieve in a lifetime from diagnostic x-rays. Radiographers try to limit the amount of radiation you get, CT being somewhat higher, but I'd have thought it beneficial to get a proper...

Seat Leon Petrol 1.4 or Hyundai i30 Diesel 1.6

Very happy with my Leon 2.0 TDi. For us the room in the back is fine even for a couple of teenagers. Rear view has never been a problem and mileage great - typically motoway stretch of about 90 mile I get 61 mpg, admittedly, I don't really drive much over 65 mph, but it suits me. Mainly urban...

    Recommend a DVD box set

I thoroughly recommend "Elementary" - a US take on Sherlock Holnmes with a few twists. I much prefer it to the new UK version. It is on Atlantic channel on Sky - but at least season 1 is in a box set. Stars Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu.

    Camera Restrictions at Twickenham (rugby)?

I wouldn't think there will be any problems taking it in - took mine to Millenuium last Saturday and wasn't even questoned on it. Mind you, getting some decent pics may be difficult. Even in the corners you are still a fair way from the action - maybe too far for a 70-200. Being at a low level...

Best way to deal with slugs?

We've put copper tape around our raised beds (and also free-standing pots). Seems to workk OK and the constant rain hasn't made it peel off, so the glue on the back of the tape must be good.

Tesco Scan as you shop !

Yup - we use them all the time at Sains and also Waitrose. Much faster and easier except when they do a random check (actually, only had this in Sains). All the stuff has to be unloaded onto the belt and individually scanned by the person at the checkout then repacked. I refuse to help them...

    Dough Kneading Machine

Interesting, as we used to make a lot of bread and hand-kneaded it after our food processor gave up the ghost. We've recenlty bought the Dan Lepard book on baking "Short and Sweet" and his bread recipes yield a very soft and wet dough. This is easy to knead - in fact, he recommends just a couple...

good books - thriller - crime

David Downing has written some exciting thrillers - based in Germany around the time of the last war. All called "Something Station" - first one is "Zoo Station". I've read, I think, 4, of the 6. As historical novels they are clearly based on events around that time. I found them gripping and...

    Canon EOS 70D Owners Thread.

I'd second your comment on Charlotte's book, Reg - I bought a copy before I got the camera itself and find it very helpful with understanding what is going on and the set-up stuff.

    Sore knee

Agree with this - you need to go to the doc and get referred to either hospital for an x-ray or a physio who should be able to diagnose the issue (at least to some extent.) I've had recent problems with my right knee and the physio I went to (a specailist in sport injuries - although my problem...

    Yay, buying a boat!

Looks like it would be great to sail. I came to dingy sailing late (about 15 yrs ago, mid-40s) and have 2 Toppers that I still sail on the sea on the Isle of Wight. That whetted my appetite and I did Day Skipper, and now sail big boats and race whenever I can. Fits in v well with photography...

    Canon EOS 70D Owners Thread.

I've set up my 70D for BBF (had started to use it on my 400D previously) and have a slightly more complciated query. I presume that the exposure is still measured/set by a half-press on the shutter button. So, if I wish to use the AE-Lock feature, I'd need to focus using the back button...

    Missed Opportunities

Yup - driving from Potten End to Hemel one morning, beautiful sunrise, mist just lifting off the fields - NO CAMERA! So next day put camera in the car and absolutley no atmospheric views at all!
