Thought I would give Release Priority a go shooting rugby yesterday. Not convinced it made much of a difference but the weather was so horrible that I was concentrating more on keeping everything dry rather than how fast focus was acquired or a direct comparison of how many of the first shots...
Just want to get the majority view. Shooting Rugby, I have always tried to straighten the background out so the pitch looks level. However for some grounds where the slope of the pitch is more like the side of a mountain - There are a few in National League 2 South, straightening the "horizon"...
Yes, pretty easy to get in and out, but numbers would have been well down. Must have been a nightmare for BBMF to try and communicate what was going on to the people that were already there, The rangers were very helpful but I guess they could had the same problem imparting info to a large group...
I feel a bit jinxed trying to catch the Lancaster. When the Canadian Plane came over in 2014, I was out walking the dogs and was surprised when they both flew over my local park in Hampshire at a few hundred feet and I didn’t even have my Phone on me to get a picture. Waited the next day, same...
I can answer my own question Very Dark!
Take a full frame body with good low light capability
Tried a 5D mk iv ( hired for the weekend) and have to say quite impressed as the ISO went up and up and could still get something usable at 25600 for a try in the corner in the last few minutes...
Can anyone comment on the quality of the floodlights at Henley Hawks and whether there is a good even spread of lighting including the in goal areas. They keep to a 3:00pm kick off throughout the winter so floodlights will be used and it will be dark by half time. I have not shot Rugby under...
I have tried both the 120-300 and Canon 300mm 2.8 IS II on a 7D Mk ll in the last month. No doubt the Sigma has the edge on flexibility; you can shoot a rugby or football game with one body and you need a 70-200 on another body if you use the prime. BUT...... 300 is much lighter to handhold, and...
I tried a 120-300 sport a couple of weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised and the lens is obviously very flexible so if it is a choice between the prime and zoom then there is no contest
However. After shooting with the Canon prime, I think that every time I would use the sigma 120-300 I would...
400mm is ii for a 1dx is ideal as long as you have a 70-200 on the other body for close work
It's a big bold step to invest that much in the gear.
Just a suggestion, how about a 7d mk 2 and 300mm f2.8 as one combo if you are going to be doing mostly non pro events? More of those are in daylight...
My final word on this one, Cotswold refunded the custom fees on their next payment run so overall delighted with the buying process and would use them again.
Their terms and conditions state they will refund so yes expecting it to happen once processed and then on their next payment run so I am quite relaxed about it.
1d3 and 7d mk2.
1d is great and served me well but 7d mk 2 gives me just a little more reach, appears to focus just a little bit better and gives me more ability to crop. Light was really good on Saturday so I have yet to see if I get an advantage sensor wise on a dark afternoon. Used a 1d mk...
Bit early for a FedEx invoice but I am sure it will come
I took the 7D Mk2 out for the first time in anger on Saturday to photograph a National 2 South Rugby match. Borrowed a 400mm F2.8 which was helpful as my team got a battering and rarely got close to the try line at my end.
My...
Thank you, glad to be here
Still no Avatar but an update on Cotswold Camera and my first import order.
Ordered last Friday evening and despite a few wobbles when my order was still showing as "processing" Wednesday morning, I held my nerve and by Wednesday evening the status changed to...
