Woohoo my wife got me wild arena membership with a free course

Wow. I was looking for some chances to improve my photography skills, and that looks like an excellent setup. Will check them out some more.

    do you feel geeky

POTN? I went out for the first time yesterday with the 400D+28-135+lens hood. It certainly felt like I was a "proper" photographer with that combination, and it's light enough to not be an encumberance as a tourist. One of the defining moments in me wanting to get a back to having a proper...

Which PP software for a beginner, PC and Mac?

Just to add another spin to the thread, if you don't want to shell out the big bucks for Photoshop, take a look at the GIMP (www.gimp.org). Runs on Windows, Macs, and also on my PC which runs Linux (so all my software is free). I've just been testing out the latest version which seems to add a...

    Canon 400D

Got mine from Canon on Ebay as well. First one wouldn't auto-focus, and I think the metering was screwed as well. They're collecting that one for a refund, bought another - seems perfect. Both were indistinguishable from new, and I doubt I'll use it enough to wear the shutter out. There's...

    No time to process photos

The time needed to post process photos is a real incentive to spent the time getting it right with the camera first time around! We're still printing pictures from our Canada vacation last July : there's a whole other trip since then, and the next one is coming up and I expect to take a lot...

Advice required: have been asked to photograph a friends puppy!

The hardest part about doggie pictures is that the dog has no idea what you're trying to do and can't help - despite wanting to. Spend some time with the pup first, keeping the camera out with the lens cap on so it's not something new, then start taking some pics. Get the owners to give...

Places in the Bracknell/Reading (Berkshire) area?

In Reading you've got a couple of parks as well as some interesting possibilities in the Abbey Gardens. If you can get out to Sonning there are some interesting possibilities along the river there.... Bracknell... hmmm.. not the most photogenic of towns, but there are some parks around that...
