    Ilfords popup Darkroom tent

Haven’t Nova sold a darkroom tent for years? I don’t know if the Ilford one is a different design or a rebrand, but I imagine they’re pretty similar.

    Beginner Getting started in LF

Intrepid Cameras. They do 4 x 5, and 5 x 7, and 8 x 10 cameras, all for less than £500. You’d need to add a film holder, lens, and tripod, but they always look good value for a brand new camera. Only the film costs putting me off from buying one

    Intrepid enlarger

I’ve got one of the new Intrepid enlargers on order. Seemed like a bargain for my first attempt at a home darkroom, £280 for the kit of enlarger, timer/safelight, and negative holders. I’ve been waiting eagerly since July (which isn’t a problem), but wondered if anyone here has got one, or...

    Splitting a 35mm roll

I’d looked at black and white prices. I just assumed if you were reloading disposable cameras and playing with changing bags, you would probably home process, and from there assumed you’d be developing black and white, not colour. Is a camera still a disposable if you reload it?

    Splitting a 35mm roll

You can get a roll for £4 from Analogue Wonderland (admittedly not including delivery)

    Splitting a 35mm roll

I’m voting for “more trouble than it’s worth”. Potentially ruining the full roll for the sake of a couple of quid.

    What went wrong?

Bottle opener on an old Swiss Army knife for me, but I only develop at home if it’s stuff I don’t want scanning.

    What went wrong?

I’ll check when I get the negs. The film was wound fully into the canister, so I assume it would have been opened.

    What went wrong?

Wow, nice shot, but very similar marks. Somebody did suggest it might be from films being spliced together to be developed, rather than when hanging them up to dry. At least that would be forgivable, as it’s done blind.

    What went wrong?

I don’t have the negatives, just had the email today to download the scans. (£1 per film for an email!) Now it’s been suggested, I guess it probably is physical damage from clips when the film was being dried. The images have ended up out of order at some point in the process, but that frame is...

    What went wrong?

I’ve just had some scans back today from a reputable UK lab, and have some strange damage or artefacts on one frame. It’s 35mm HP5, and had one pass through the carry-on baggage scanner at Ancona airport in Italy. The films were developed and scanned by the lab. Any ideas?

Recommendations for a good 'walkabout' lens for FF Canon

I’ve got a Sigma 17-70 f4 on my 6D most of the time, and I’m happy with it. Don’t need faster because of the low iso performance and the in-lens stabilisation, but I carry a 50mm f1.8, a 105mm macro, or something longer or wider, all according what I’m planning to shoot and where I’m going.

    From a Fuji X10 to a...?

I used the X10 when I volunteered in Belarus in 2013, and have been posting images daily on my Instagram (as in, on this date in 201x), as obviously I can’t travel there this year. Here’s one.

    From a Fuji X10 to a...?

I don’t understand this crazy talk about “keep using the X10”! I thought photography forums were so we could encourage each other to buy cameras and lenses, not use them. Seriously though, it is a great camera, but it has it's limitations. Mine occasionally fails to record a file when it seems...

    From a Fuji X10 to a...?

Thanks everyone so far. I like the look of that Panasonic - I’m really after a high quality compact rather than a new interchangeable lens system, I think. The Panasonic looks a LOT like the X10 from the back and top. Any comments on the touchscreen? It’s not something I’ve ever tried on a...
