Many thanks for replies and help everyone I really appreciate it, reading the above replies and seeing the shots they both seem to be quite similar so I am drawn more to the 150-500 now purely based on price, the 50-500 is about £350 more at the moment with the Sigma cash back on the 150-500...

If you are going to Anglesey Circuit then it also might be worth taking a two second drive up the road to RAF Valley to get some pictures, there are plenty of photo opportunities there on weekdays with hawks always coming in and out and almost always some visitors.

From the picture i personally would say that it is a Antonov An-2 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Antonov_an2_ha-mkf_arp.jpg but im not 100% sure

I have just bought the sigma APO version for £127 in Jessops which i thought was cheap so if it is not very good it doesn't really matter and i can always get the Canon lens at a later date.
