If you really want to understand colour, tones, channels etc & pp-ing
then Dan Margulis Professional Photoshop or Photoshop Lab Color are excellent, but not easy to fully understand
All the best
Thats very interesting Wayne - I always thought he was the only person worth reading - could you suggest other books/people who know what they are talking about, as I am very interested in picking up people's thoughts and ideas.
Thanks
Chris
Dan Margulis, the guru of post-processing, says you should not worry about this as 16bit processing is a bit over the top.
He claims you can not tell the difference between 8 & 16bit rgb>lab>rgb. Can you give us an example Wayne?
The other point to notice about this technique is that it is...
Hi,
Jacob Rus has invented a new way of color-correcting images in Photoshop (would probably work in GIMP too), that is intuitive and easy to do.
I was so impressed I thought I'd write it up and share it with you.
Have a peek...
Honestly the best course to learn post processing is the CurveMeister online course -
http://www.broadhurst-family.co.uk/lefteye/MainPages/curvemeister.htm
well worth the money - but you'll have to wait until the next one starts
Alternatively, I've written my site as I have begun to learn PS...
I have noticed that the CP effect I use to get with film is impossible to get with digital - I've no idea why and have basically given up using it to get a rich sky - I use post-processing to add the effect back in!
There are a couple of photohop actions on my web site, that will do that for...
How about price! and they get slower and slower as more facilities are added.
shadow/hiligh is a new addition at cs2 + some more - and then there is the whole RAW world if you get into that.
I'm still more than happy with PS7 and use it in preference to cs2!
This sort of question was asked the other day on another forum - and I posted this to show what one can do
If you only use lab curves you can not change a colour to any other, but if you delve into apply image with the lab channels, then it becomes easier to alter colours - for instance here...
Unfortunately the actions will not work with elements (as they need defining in a special way)
Elements does not have Lab mode either - but then with easycurve you can adjust images in ANY colour space.
- sorry
I've just added a tutorial on a magical photoshop technique (if it would interest you)
see http://www.broadhurst-family.co.uk/lefteye/MainPages/magic.htm
and enjoy!
Yes perhaps I should have included a Masking solution - but I always initially try and do it without having to make selections or painting - just seems cleaner to me. If I have time I'll add a 12 method!
Thanks
as luck would have it I've just done a comparison of 11 techniques for removing haze!
