    weekly Ian's 52 for 2015: Week 16 - Experiment

Because of their high figure-ground contrast, the branches are the most noticeable element in the picture. That has the effect of making them the main subject - good if that's what you wanted; perhaps a bit unusual for a "landscape". It becomes a picture in two parts, with the viewer's eye...

    weekly Ian's 52 for 2015: Week 16 - Experiment

Ah, that's the lovely lady! The bit of 'motion blur' you created with the diffusion adds a certain sensual vitality to the earlier shot, don't you think? ;)

    Fuji X-E1/X-E2/X-E2S/X-E3 Owners Thread

I don't have an adapter for my Zuiko 50mm, so I'll be interested to hear how you get on. I've tried a Pen F lens (F.Zuiko Auto-S 38mm f/1.8), and wasn't too impressed; but the Zuiko 50 should be better. Here's one I did with an MC Mir 20mm f/3.5, which was made in Russia by KMZ based on designs...

    weekly Ian's 52 for 2015: Week 16 - Experiment

Thanks, Ian. Cmd+Shift+4 on a Mac lets you capture the contents of a frame you drag round any screen area; AFAICS you then have to resize appropriately in Photoshop.

    weekly Ian's 52 for 2015: Week 16 - Experiment

Hi Ian I'm catching up with this discussion a bit late. Am I right in assuming that when you use 'Survey' to pull out a set of photos, you then record that by making a screenshot? (I can't see any way in LR to export a 'Survey' to a single jpg file.) I recognise your latest shot from another...

    Fuji X-E1/X-E2/X-E2S/X-E3 Owners Thread

I've been using legacy M42 screw-mount lenses with an adaptor on my XE-2. These lenses are a joy to use, and the focus-peaking highlight makes manual focussing much easier than it ever was with old film SLRs. Here are a few examples: Carl Zeiss Jena 80mm f/1.8 Pancolar Helios-44 58mm f/2...

D300 Owners Thread - Anything related to the D300!

If you were using continuous servo and had A1 set to 'Release', you've in a sense just been lucky that the lens has been responding fast enough to acquire focus fractionally before the shutter opened. Assuming you're using the same lens, I'm guessing that the conditions have changed in some...

D300 Owners Thread - Anything related to the D300!

Agreed - assuming you MUST have focus. The downside is that if the AF response of your lens is a bit too slow for the speed of the action, the lens may not have acquired focus, and won't release when you expect. With 'Release + Focus' in continuous-servo AF mode, you may experience an awkward...

D300 Owners Thread - Anything related to the D300!

17-55 f/2.8 DX. Hardly ever off my D300s. And, as it's a DX lens, designed for a crop frame camera, you get wide-ish angle at the 17mm end (equivalent to about a 26mm on full frame). On the down side, it's not cheap. Really, really not cheap. (For non-DX lenses, don't forget to multiply by...

Yes, we do need to keep this in perspective. As many of us know, police officers' own internet forums continually have posts from officers critical of their colleagues who misuse the law - either from ignorance or knowingly - to prevent photographers' lawful activities. What some officers...

Seems like recent incidents in the City of London were not down to arbitrary actions by security guards, but requested by police: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/may/13/city-london-security-guards-report-photographers
