    Canon EOS 7D Owners Thread

Hi there, 18 months is obviously not the kind of life expectancy you should get from a 7D. If it comes to the point that it needs to be repaired, don't use your own money. Take it back to the shop who sold it to you and just explain that there's no reason for it to be malfunctioning like...

    Camera for my mum

If you're concerned about price, you could use www.camerapricebuster.co.uk, to get the cheapest deal. It's updated daily, and lists all Canon and Nikon compact cameras.

    7D third party grip

Have a look on eBay as well. There's another brand called Aputure and I've used them on all five of the DSLRs I've owned in the past. I've never owned a genuine battery grip, and there's no need to. Meike or Aputure will work just fine.

    Dead Camera?

Well, I'd try to research it on the internet. It shouldn't happen to it, at this stage, as it's still a relatively new camera. Go back to your retailer if you don't have any success with other methods. It doesn't matter about warranty/guarantee. The Sale of Goods Act is something you should...

    Why so noisey?

Perhaps you bought the camera second hand, and it belonged to Stuart Franklin before? Let me know if you need help in sorting it out.

    Why so noisey?

Yes, I'd say that's a problem with underexposure, too and quality can quickly get worse, if you try to adjust the exposure to a higher level in Photoshop. I was having a look at the EXIF info, and it says that the copyright info is 'Stuart Franklin / Getty Images'. Not sure if that's supposed...

    Gig photography

Definitely don't buy the 7D if you're doing gig photography. I had it for a while, and I couldn't deal with the poor high ISO performance, so I sold it. Anything above ISO 800 and you're starting to get lots of noise. I would go for a 5D, and if possible, a MK III, because you're getting the...

    Should I upgrade to a 7D

Hi there, I've previously owned both, so have an idea of what they can both do. One thing I did feel when I got the 7D at first, was that at the apertures where images appeared softer (e.g. 2.8 on 70-200mm) were even softer on the 7D. After thinking about it, though, it made perfect sense...

    7DayShop LP-E6 battery strange behaviour

Hi there, I've got two genuine Canon batteries and 8 third-party and I've got the same problem with some my own third-party batteries. You might find that switching the camera off and back on again will do it. It's unusual, I know, and it shouldn't happen. You could also try sending them back...

Canon 5D MKIII official owners/users thread, anything related to the 5D MKIII

Hi guys, I had a search to see if this was discussed before, but shows no results. I've had the MK III for about 2 months and it's great. I love it, and I use a MK II alongside it. Battery life, though, is not so good and it drinks battery juice so fast that I'm beginning to wonder if...

Anybody had experience with Yongnuo Flashes or BV Electronics?

Just a message to say that it's not a great idea to try the old 565EX with a battery pack. I bought one in February (it's since been revised) and I frazzled it. Sent it back, though, and got a full refund. The new 565EX, however, has apparently had this problem fixed.

    Peli/HPRC etc. hard cases

admirable, I never realised that was the case. Although I was aware they were down in Leith, I'd never heard any photographers talking about it.

    Peli/HPRC etc. hard cases

Neil, That'd be great, actually. I'm away too next week, but it would be useful to see how they are. Let me know if you're around at any point and thanks for your help! allan@amdphoto.co.uk. Allan

    Peli/HPRC etc. hard cases

Neil, Thanks for your message. I think the 1510 would be a little too small, looking at pictures on the internet. Perhaps the 1610 would be a better option, actually, as it appears to have a good amount of space in it, and the wheels are pretty much essential. I'm based in Edinburgh...

    Peli/HPRC etc. hard cases

Hi there, Many thanks for your reply. I'm looking for a hard case, really. Something I can lug around without worrying too much if someone's going to put something heavy on top.
