I think the fastest shutter speed you will be able to use if you have an external flash is a 250th, or at least that's the fastest my nikon d300 will sinc at. As previously mentioned, open up your aperture as wide as you can and take your iso has high as you dare. Good luck pal.

Thanks sirge, I'm keen to develop my understanding on this subject. To give you some idea on just how wrong I can get things when I first read the 'this is not a pipe' essay before I saw the painting I thought the pipe in question was a silver ventilation pipe...I can still see it now.

Is art somehow removed from the process of simple reproduction, or to put it another way, unique, and is this a stumbling block for photography as art, because there are so many cameras abound and digital images are so commonly produced?
