    polarisor problem ?

camera strap across the lens?. no, sorry ....it was well out of the way. so finally......i have anultra wide angle lens, xpro filters that definately cope without vignetting. Ahhh, hang on.......aren't polarisors made up of TWO surfaces? if so, if these aren't aligned properly - maybe that's the...

    polarisor problem ?

I am fairly certain it has nothing to do with the ultra wide angle lens. Xpro filters are the largest cokin filters and do not present any issues with vignetting etc . You've got to admit, it does look odd though!

    polarisor problem ?

Hi Folks. I bought a circ polly a few months ago and only just had chance to use it earlier today. I took some test shots of Chesterton Mill (near Harbury). I use Pentax K10D, sigma 10-20mm, Cokin XPro filters etc. I shot at 90 degrees with the polly and a 3stop ND Grad. I adjusted the polly to...

    sharpening jewellery photos

I have been experimenting taking shots of jewellery which I have found quite challenging, getting the lighting right etc. I more or less got there but I have noticed that the actual gemstone isn't quite sharp due to the light getting bounced away etc. apparently cameras find gems quite awkward...

    photoshop CS3 (re:jewellery shots)

I had a crack at this but i have found that using the magic wand etc the areas that get selected tend to 'bleed' onto the ring in some parts. obviously, the tones are very similar if not the same. Is there a way, after the magic wand initial selection to cut back the selected areas on the ring ...

    photoshop CS3 (re:jewellery shots)

A friend of mine asked if I would help photograph some jewellery using his lightcube, 5kW daylight bulbs etc. Before embarking on this project I read several articles to get a good understanding of how to do it. Even though I got decent photos I found myself facing a problem, similar to that of...

    exposure control problem for beginner

so, from what Grendel has just mentioned I can assess this as follows take the two shots at the correct exposure levels to begin with so that any modifications done in software afterwards are minimal and thus are not likely to need a lot of work, ie shouldn't spoil the shots as a result...

    exposure control problem for beginner

ok. even with the use of filters, such as ND, is it likely that (not only in the garden scenario) the exposure level differences would be so great between the shadow and the sunlit areas, that filters would cope? I mean , if you were out in the Peak District (or similar) on a clear, very hot...

    exposure control problem for beginner

Here's a classic scenario for a beginner, such as me, to overcome assume that I have a view of a long garden, ie grass, flowers etc. All down the one side there is a 6ft fence and it is very sunny. The fence casts a strong, dark shadow all down the garden, threst of course is bathed in...
