I only shoot slide film in my Xpan (Provia & Velvia) and have not found the built in meter to be accurate enough. I use a Seckonic 308 in Incident mode most of the time. For really tricky sunset/sunrise shots I tend to use my D300 as a meter then transfer the readings to the Xpan. Alan
