South-East England Pin Mill wrecks access

Hello, provided the weather plays ball I’m planning a day off next week and a trip to Pin Mill wrecks. I’ve checked out the tides so that’s all good, and have the location via google maps but can anyone offer advice on how to access them when you get to location. Walking along the foreshore...

    Silverstone F1 question

Not sure, hence the question. Not longer tham 400mm (40cm) physical length seems sensible to stop people bringing in huge lenses to the site and annoying the adjacent people. Just interesting that it uses the language "keep lenses below 400mm", rather an saying no longer than 40cm. I might...

    Silverstone F1 question

I’m thinking of going back to silverstone to shoot the F1 this year, for the first time in several years. Checking the FAQ on the website and it says please keep lenses at 400mm max. I was hoping to take my 120-600 to help get through the fences. Any experiences on how close they check these...

    Ephemeris vs Photopills

Thanks, yes I’ll do a test tomorrow, I’m hoping to shoot the moonrise over london centre and I’ll see how reality compares with the apps, I just wondered if anyone had a view on accuracy of 1 vs the other. It might not be an issue usually but when aligning sunrise with an object 13km away I’d...

    Ephemeris vs Photopills

The issue in this case is not Astro alignment but sunrise when overlaid in the map in the two apps. I do also use Stellarium for Astro planning but that is not the issue in this case.

    Ephemeris vs Photopills

Not sure where is the best forum for this question. I like to plan shots with alignment of the sun / moon with landmarks etc. looking out to a few weeks time in July and have my eye on a shot from Richmond Park where the sun rises close to and through / over the (formerly) BT tower. I have...

    Neutral Density Filter Selection

3 and 6 stops will get you to a few tenths or few seconds depending on brightness, if you want to add a bit of movement to water for example, likely sunset / sunrise. A 10 or 16 stop will get you to minutes or more, even upwards of 10 minutes depending on settings and it's a serious effort...

Just curious. Were you creative in another area before discovering photography?

Never at all. I felt that artistic capabilities completely bypassed me and went to my sister. I can’t play a note, have no drawing ability and at sports excelled at cycling in disciplines best described as brute strength and ignorance. I have always enjoyed others creativity and looking at...

South-East England Newhaven harbour arms access

I’m looking for a location for moonrise tomorrow and there looks to be a shot looking over Seaford on the south coast. But ideally you would be out on one of the harbour arms. Either the west one from Newhaven, or the easterly one at the end of Seaford beach. Does anybody know whether you can...

Is selling images via site like Shuttershock and Alamy worth it?

I got into Getty years ago via their Flickr affiliation. I upload intermittently and get a steady trickle of sales but it is a trickle. Occasionally a big sale, I got an image on an M&S biscuit package several years ago, but never very much when they take the lions cut. I have a couple of...

Windows update has killed my camera!

I'll give it a go. I run Windows 10, apparently my PC is missing some piece of hardware to run windows 11, even though it is only a couple of years old and quite a decent spec.
