Jessops 300D/AFD for £30ish - any good?

Another newbie here ... I bought that flashgun a few months ago for use with Canon 400D. Only got around to actually usuing it yesterday and worked fine but after turning off the flash and camera for a while ansd starting all back up, it no longer seems to fire at all. The Ready light is Red and...
