    Insurance

I've also got a 10D on my policy and I've done exactly that.

    Insurance

I use Photoguard. They offer good cover, no daft excesses, fair (for an insurance company) exclusions and offer optional cover for theft from an unattended motor vehicle subject to a few conditions, such as Thatcham alarm/immobiliser. My policy has a minimum claim of £100 and no excess.

    Qatar

I went there briefly a few years ago and compared to Saudi it's almost western. There's plenty of drink in major hotels and there are bars. (getting the priorities right!). The people are friendly and most speak English. Be very careful not to photograph individuals unless you have their...

    Are Pixmania ok?

I used them a few times when I couldn't find stuff in the UK. Their site showed the items were in stock but in each case (4 times) once I'd paid I got an email from them telling me they were out of stock, and it took ages for them to refund my card. Their customer services ladies sound good...

    Flash Guns

Missed that bit. Sigma will indeed honour international warranties but are providing a 2 year warranty on their authorised UK stock.

    Returns to DigitalRev

There's a UK-based ebay shop selling them here... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-SIGMA-10-20mm-f4-5-6-EX-DC-HSM-LENS-CANON-EF-EOS-UK_W0QQitemZ7545415322QQcategoryZ4687QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem. They're advertising a one year warranty so it's safe to assume it's "grey"as Sigma UK offer 2...

    Flash Guns

It's not really a catch but down to personal preference whether you deal with them, or any of the many Hong Kong-based traders that mainly do their business on ebay, which is where One Stop Digital started out. I suppose they're betting on the small likelihood of customs putting a bill for duty...

    EOS 5D-Canon official press release

As Matt said, VAT & Duty account for a lot, but the prices you see on US websites/mail order don't include local and state taxes which can add almost the same as the VAT and duty in many cases, then, as Steep says, profiteering has to be taken into account. Rip-Off Britain is alive and well...

    Leicas

If you really want to start using rangefinders there are much cheaper options from Voightlander and Contax than Leica that will still give excellent results and can be found on Ebay for "reasonable" money, and they're just the cameras with interchangeable lenses. There are dozens with fixed...

    Leicas

Leica's digital cameras are ok, but not as good as you might expect. I think you pay for the name and with the Digilux 2, the identical (developed jointly) Panasonic DMC-LC1 is several hundred pounds cheaper, and still overpriced for what you get. These cameras aren't rangefinders BTW - the...

    Well its here.!!!

I've found getting used to the top button press combinations was the worst, and using the Select button rather than a Set button in the middle of the dial on my 10D is a pain, but it's worth every penny and you soon get used to the controls. Ergonomically it's great with everything in the right...

Nice one. I've had mine about 6 weeks now :)

    Let sleeping dogs lie.

Can I suggest that you don't just go to any processor, and try Colab in Coventry? They should able to develop your film using the correct chemicals and it might cost a bit more, but you'll have a better chance of seeing some unfogged results. They don't publicise their "old" film processing but...
