I'm a very big fun of 5d Mk1, it has that magic:)....I shoot it very often at iSO 1600 and if the image is well exposed the quality is still very good, both noise wise and also dynamic range. Even 3200 is still good... plus noise reduction in LR3 or 4 is great and can help a lot in many...
Agree, LR4 needs a top spec computer unless you don't mind waiting few sec to load the photo..it's a great tool an most of my work is done in LR but for you PSE might be a better option, but on the other hand I think LR ii easier to use :)
Even if you find a cheaper gear you may also think about warranty, what happens if something goes wrong with the lens..Was in Tokyo two years ago and found a few camera shops, but the gear was more expensive than here in UK, even the used ones.
Go for 7D - a great if you want the crop...or cheaper version 5d Mk1 - my fav camera:), and in my opinion better than the MK2 unless you want a video:), but the quality of the image is better in MK1 - it has that magic:)
Similar thought as above... Camera is not there to be on a shelf:)!!!!! you have to use it , even on the beach, with care obviously - have it always with you ready to shoot :)....I might be going slightly too far and philosophical , but worrying too much about a camera is a evil, may stop you...
I think colours are better on the second one, but I think there are slightly too saturated for me to look natural.... BTW, laptops are not good for editing photos, you tilt the screen and you see completely different colours and brightness....
