I've found a canon 24-70f2.8 for sale. The lens isn't working as one of the elements has come loose inside the lens. They guy only wants £20 for it with box,hood, case... Everything. What's people's thoughts ? I'm thinking why hasn't he had it repaired. He said he just doesn't use or need it...

I noticed in an amateur p magazine that someone had used a 24 - 70 lens on one picture and on another used something like a 17 - 100. Either way the first lens fit in the focal length of the second lens. what can the smaller focal length lens acheive that the other cant when it is in its range...
