Do you visit Malory park & or Donington park much? What Motorsport or just anything that goes fast?
Sharp sand would perform better than any other, but I'm not convinced that it would really work. As it dries out the sand will blow away over time. I'd buy a 25kg bag and test a sample area - see what you think before lumping out on a bulk bag.
You could use a product similar to aco ground...
Those are great - how did you find it tracking the puffins? My old mk I struggled on them, reverted to the 70-200 last time. Not had chance to put the mk ii against something as small and rapid as puffins yet.
I had a similar situation for 8 weeks at the back end of last year. Only thing that kept me slightly sane was TV boxed sets & doing processing on my laptop. Couldn't sit up at all.

Given your very limited budget id get down to an art / craft shop type affair and start looking for suitable pretty boxes etc... That you can jazz up a bit. Most of the companies that do what you are looking for have minimum quantities.
