Multiple DSLR batteries will not hold charge?

Thank you for your help. However, I have been using these cameras in the Outer Hebrides, which in contrast to the rest of the UK has probably had the driest weather on record over the last year or so! That said, the range in temperature from cold at night to warm in the day could well induce...

Multiple DSLR batteries will not hold charge?

I have used up to 7 Canon/Hahnel batteries on one camera, all of them failed in the manner described. I bought new ones (albeit not branded) and they didn't work, but given the Canon ones didn't work I suspect the batteries are not at fault. None of the existing batteries are more than two years...

Multiple DSLR batteries will not hold charge?

I have currently three DSLRs (two Canon 550Ds and a 500D; both only one and two years old, respectively), which work apparently work fine. I have been using them for external time-lapse photography. The problem is that a fully charged battery doesn't last more than a few hours (on average...

    Metadata

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I have also spoken to some other people and they provided me with a very easy method to extract basic data. I haven't progressed onto extracting capture data such as shutter speed etc. but to extract image name, date, time and file size this method...

    Metadata

I currently have around 4000 images from a time-lapse sequence and as part of my research I want to analyse each image individually. However, I need the appropriate metadata for each image. Is there a way I can generate an Excel file with all the appropriate metadata for each image, such as...

    Camera glass

The camera is set up for time-lapse photography using a remote control release. The photos are being taken of wildlife for research purposes and need to be analysed digitally, so need to be of high resolution. If perspex wont cut it for maintaining resolution then perhaps installing a lens...

    Camera glass

Im probably not going to be using L glass, most likely 18-55 standard kit lens. I do hope though to install some form of hood over the front hole to reduce both glare and rain etc. The box though will be left very much open to the elements, it will be mounted on a fence post by the coast. It...

    Camera glass

Its basically a glorified bird box, silicon sealed everywhere, with yes plenty of silica sachets going inside. My main issue was the hole at the front, though which the lens peers through, and how best to cover the hole to be waterproof and yet not minimize optics that much. It really isnt...

    Camera glass

I am building a housing for my SLR, so I can put it outside in all weathers and I am looking to make the front of the box obviously see through and watertight. To maintain image quality and water tightness, would I be best installing a specified lens filter as the front cover of the box or...

    Which glass?

    Counting pixels

Thanks for the advice, however I don't know how to interpret the histogram! I presume I count the number of pixels at values of 255...but which channel do I use: R, G, B, hue, saturation, lightness or greyscale? The image is a mixture of colours. Also, where do I count the pixels from within the...

    Counting pixels

Hi, I'm looking to count the total number of pixels in a particular part of an image. I have selected and cut the subject from the image and pasted onto white background. So, does anyone know of a way to count the number of (non-transparent?) pixels using Corel Paint Shop Pro X2 (the only...

    Image Stabilisation

    Thanks for all the advice.

    Image Stabilisation

Ah, seems to be contradicting opinions? Is a lens with IS worth paying extra for given that it is only going to be used on a fixed platform? I'm on a tight budget and the extra £100 pounds for IS on the 18-55mm needs to be really showing up in IQ. Thanks.
