I'm looking for a macro lens for my Canon 7d mkii (having switched from a sony system a couple of months ago) - I mainly do butterflies and dragonflies but do very occasionally venture to smaller things! (As well reptiles too). I'm looking at second hand lenses mainly, I was just wondering which...
I currently use a Sigma 150-500mm but having to stop down to f/8 to yield anything close to sharpness is predictably frustrating!
It sounds as if my best option is either going to be the 300 f/4 or 400 f/5.6
Will almost certainly be purchasing the new Canon 7d mkii and am looking at the following lenses. I photograph wildlife almost exclusively...
Sigma 300mm f/2.8
Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 OS (not the latest sport version)
Canon 300mm f/4 IS
Will obviously be looking at relevant converters too!
Any...
This lens looks so promising but unless this tracking/AF issue is resolved I'm afraid I won't be buying one! As you say Simon very frustrating as this lens has such promise!!

I think competitions are a good thing, and are often a good measure of whether you are improving or not as a photographer. Photographic Club competitions are great as they often provide feedback, or will at least provide it if asked. As long as you are not governed by the style in which you...

I know there was a thread about this a few years ago but I was wondering if anyone has had any success in making their own 'plamp'.
Loc-line seems to be the suggested material but it is tough to come by in the UK, often costing too much to make it worthwhile. Has anyone found a good supplier or...
I'm looking for a strap that is easily detachable so that when I mount my camera on a tripod the strap isn't in the way.
I use a Sigma 150-500mm so a comfortable strap is important but it needs to easily be removed, via a buckle system or similar.
Any recommendations?
